Each car is assigned a unique number plate with an identification number of the owner's choice. Vehicle registration in Dubai, followed by attaching the Dubai number plate, completes the car purchase process. Interestingly, in the UAE, number plates are also considered a status symbol. Many luxurious car owners often go for fancy numbers that make their vehicles stand out! Let’s find out more about different types of number plates in Dubai, their fees, how to get them, and all the relevant details.

Types of Number Plates in Dubai

In the UAE, the number plate rules differ as per your Emirate.

Let’s understand the 3 main kinds of Dubai car number plates —

  • Standard plates — Easily accessible, these are the most common and budget-friendly options.
  • Special plates — Ideal if you want something unique with distinctive numbers or patterns. Such plates are more expensive than standard plates but add a personal touch to your vehicle.
  • Premium plates — Perfect for making a statement, featuring rare single digits or exclusive combinations. These plates are highly sought after and come with a higher price tag.

Note: The type of Dubai number plate you choose reflects your style and status. Whether you opt for standard plates, unique special plates, or the prestige of premium plates, Dubai has options to suit all preferences.
