For the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad, Sharjah Police — with approval from the Sharjah Executive Council — waived traffic black points entirely for violations committed before 1 December 2025. The only condition was that drivers should have settled their outstanding fines through the MOI app by 10 January 2026.
That window has now closed. Also, serious and aggravated violations were excluded from the waiver.
Sharjah’s standing fine discounts continue separately:
35% off if you pay within 60 days of the violation date, covering the fine, the vehicle impoundment period, and release fees.
25% off if you pay after 60 days but within one year, applying to the fine amount only.

Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah do not run separate point systems. They use the federal system through the Ministry of Interior, which is why the MOI UAE app is the main channel.

You must hand over the license. Failing to do so is charged separately: AED 1,000 for a first violation, AED 2,000 for a second, AED 3,000 for a third.
Driving during suspension is a criminal matter. Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024, in force since 29 March 2025, sets strict penalties for driving with a suspended license.
The points still age out on their own schedule. Suspension does not reset the 12-month clock on each individual violation.

Yes, when someone else was behind the wheel. Points follow the license, not the car. Thus, a fine caught on your plate can be moved to the driver who earned it.
