Emirates ID is a national identity card issued by the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) of the UAE. This card is mandatory for all nationals and residents staying in the UAE. It proves beneficial regarding identity verification as well as requests for public services. However, Emirates ID penalties are common in the UAE and can cost you a lot of money.

For instance, forgery of an Emirates ID is a punishable offence and attracts hefty fines. Similarly, penalties apply if one fails to renew their Emirates ID within the stipulated time without due reason. Moreover, foreign nationals living in the UAE can also be punished for any illegal activity regarding the card.

As violation of rules and other penalties have different costs depends on the type of offence, it can be a little confusing if you are not aware of the functioning of an Emirates ID. So if you want to know more about Emirates ID fines and the payment, and most importantly, how to avoid them, keep reading the article below.

What is Emirates ID fine?

Individuals or businesses who don’t comply with the Emirates ID law are liable to pay an Emirates ID fine. Based on the seriousness of the offence, fines can range anywhere between AED 100 and AED 10,000. The Emirates ID Fine is a crucial aspect of the national identification system as it ensures that each resident in the UAE is properly registered and has a valid identification card.

One thing to note here is that fines will remain on your Emirates ID card until you pay all of your remaining fines, irrespective of partial payments. You can request to pay the penalties through the Emirates ID Card Fines website.

Types of Emirates ID fines in the UAE

Fines for Emirates ID come in a variety of forms. Here is the list of Emirates ID Fines in the UAE.

  • Covid-19 rules violations
  • Violation of the Jaywalking regulation
  • Delay in registering for an Emirates ID or its renewal
  • Additional Individual infractions
  • Breaking traffic laws like exceeding the speed limit while driving a car in the UAE

You can easily renew an expired Emirates ID or Visa. However, there are certain fines that you must pay in advance to clear your Emirates ID records. Only after the fines are paid would you be eligible to reapply for the Emirates ID.

Check Emirates ID Fine Offline

While the online mode is pretty convenient, an offline procedure is also there if you wish to dispute and have a fine waived in case you have received a fine from Emirates ID. You will need the following information, to begin with.

  • Your Emirates identification number
  • The fine's effective date
  • The amount of the fine

Subsequently, you will be required to fill out the Emirates ID Dispute Form, which is available on the Emirates ID website. Fill out section 2 of the form with the relevant information. This is where you have to explain why you believe that the fine was issued erroneously under section 3. Finally, you can sign the form and submit it.

So if you have any questions or prefer to pay in person, you can visit one of the many Emirates Identity Authority offices in Sharjah. The payment of the penalty is done here in person, and the payer receives a receipt as proof of payment.
