What is a Self-service Car Wash in Dubai?

A self-service car wash in Dubai is a wash you start, choose, and pay for yourself, without handing your keys to anyone. You drive into a bay or a tunnel, select a package on a screen or with the attendant at the gate. Next, you tap your card, and the machine cleans the car while you sit inside it.

Three things make a wash count as self-service in Dubai:

  1. You stay in your own vehicle for the machine part of the wash
  2. You choose the package yourself, on a screen, at the gate, or in an app
  3. You pay yourself by card, cash or app, with no drop-off and no waiting for a call

Are There Coin-Operated Self Car Washes in Dubai?

No. Dubai has almost no coin-operated bays where you wash the car yourself with a spray gun. The reason is legal. Dubai Municipality's Local Order No. (11) of 2003 governs public health and community safety across the emirate. Article 59 lists banned acts under public cleanliness. Item 10 on that list bans discharging vehicle washing water in any location other than one the Municipality has designated for it.

Any wash bay in Dubai needs approved drainage, an oil and grease interceptor, and a water recycling system before it can open.

What Types of Self-Service Car Wash Can You Use in Dubai?

Dubai offers six main types. Each one costs a different amount and takes a different amount of time.

Type How it Works Time
Tunnel (conveyor) wash A belt pulls your car through a fixed line of foam, brushes, rinse and dryers. You stay inside. 10–12 min for exterior plus interior
In-bay automatic You park inside a bay. The machine moves around the car. Under 3 min at ENOC ProWash; 5.5 min at ADNOC
Touchless (brushless) Water pressure and detergent only. Nothing solid touches the paint. 3–6 min
Tri-foam wash Three coloured, scented foams over the standard automatic cycle. Under 3 min
Waterless / steam wash A spray lifts dust off the paint, and staff wipe it away with microfibre. 4 min for a quick exterior
Self-service vacuum You use the hose yourself on seats, mats and the boot. 5–15 min

ADNOC Distribution operates more than 500 service stations in the UAE and describes its car wash network as the largest in the country.

How Does a Self-Service Car Wash Work in Dubai, Step by Step?

The process takes about five steps at a tunnel wash and four at a petrol station bay. Given below are the steps for a tunnel car wash in Dubai:

  • Step1 - Join the queue at the entrance. An attendant will direct you onto the conveyor platform.
  • Step2 - Pick your package. You can buy it in the app before you arrive, or choose it at the gate.
  • Step3 - Pay by card tap, cash, or in-app credit. Providers like Tubewash accept all three.
  • Step4 - Fold your mirrors, close the windows and sunroof, and retract the electric antenna. Staff will remove fixed antennas for you.
  • Step5 - Stay in the car and let the belt pull you through. If the conveyor stops, do not get out. It restarts on its own.
  • Step6 - Drive to the second tunnel for interior vacuum and dashboard cleaning if your package includes it. Otherwise drive straight out.

How Long Does a Self Car Wash in Dubai Take?

Between three and twelve minutes for the machine itself, depending on the operator and package.

Operator Wash Machine time
ENOC AutoPro ProWash Auto Wash Under 3 minutes
ADNOC Distribution Automatic foam wash 5.5 minutes
ADNOC Distribution Automatic plus hand wash and interior vacuum 5.5 minutes, then about 15 minutes
Tubewash Exterior and interior tunnel journey 10 to 12 minutes
ENOC AutoPro Quick Wash Waterless exterior 4 minutes

Queue time is the real variable. Tubewash moves one vehicle into the tunnel every 80 seconds, so even a long-looking line clears quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is self-service car wash cheaper than a manual wash in Dubai?

Can I pay by card at a self car wash in Dubai?

Yes. Tubewash accepts cash, card, and in-app payment. ADNOC and ENOC stations accept cards and their own apps. Buying your wash in the app before you arrive also lets you skip part of the queue at Tubewash.

Are self-service car washes in Dubai open 24 hours?

Several ENOC ProWash sites, including Dubai Internet City, Al Barsha, and Mirdif, run 24 hours. ADNOC auto car wash bays in Mirdif and Al Barsha South run from 7 AM to 2 AM. Tubewash runs 6:45 AM to 10:30 PM.

What size vehicle fits in a tunnel car wash in Dubai?

Tubewash washes vehicles up to 2.1 metres wide and 2.3 metres tall. Standard sedans, hatchbacks, and most SUVs fit. Large vans, lifted 4x4s, and vehicles with roof boxes usually do not.

Can I wash my car in my building's car park in Dubai?

Not if the water runs into shared areas. Dubai Municipality bans discharging vehicle washing water outside designated locations. Most buildings and master communities also ban it in their own rules. Use a licensed mobile operator or a station instead.

Do self-service car washes in Dubai include interior cleaning?

Only in the higher packages. Tubewash Exterior Wash at AED 35 has no vacuum. Wash & Vac at AED 45 adds interior vacuum and dashboard cleaning. ADNOC follows its 5.5-minute automatic wash with about 15 minutes of hand washing and interior vacuuming.
