A Sharjah Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document that confirms you have no criminal record or pending legal issues in the UAE. It is issued through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and is accepted as proof of good conduct by employers, visa authorities and government institutions.

You may need it for employment, immigration, residency visa applications, study abroad, business licensing or when a foreign country requires MOFA-attested background verification. Residents in Sharjah apply for Sharjah clearance certificate through the MOI UAE portal or the MOI UAE smart app. Former residents applying from outside the UAE can also apply with a UAE Embassy-attested fingerprint card.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the Sharjah police clearance certificate valid?

The validity depends on the authority that issued it and where it will be used. Certificates issued through the MOI are generally valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. Dubai Police-issued certificates are valid for up to 3 months. Always check with the requesting authority as some institutions require a certificate issued within the last 30 days.

In what language is the Sharjah police clearance certificate issued?

The certificate is issued in Arabic or English. You choose the language when you apply. If you are submitting the certificate to a country that requires a different language, you will need a certified translation.

How many days does it take to get a police clearance certificate in Sharjah?

Through the MOI UAE online portal, the certificate is usually issued within 24 hours on a working day. If you select email delivery, you receive it the same day or the next working day. Courier delivery takes up to five working days.

Can I get a Sharjah police clearance certificate if I no longer live in the UAE?

Yes. Former residents can apply even after leaving the UAE. You will need to get a ten-print fingerprint card from your local police station and have it attested by the UAE Embassy in your country. Submit this along with your passport and previous UAE visa copies through the MOI portal or Dubai Police website. The certificate will be sent by courier to your address.

Do I need a separate certificate for each emirate I live in?

No. A single certificate issued through the MOI portal covers your entire criminal record across all UAE emirates. If your last residency was in Dubai, apply through Dubai Police. For all other emirates including Sharjah, apply through the MOI portal.

How do I get a Sharjah police clearance certificate attested for use abroad?

You need MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) attestation. You can request this directly through the MOI portal when applying, or separately through the MOFA website or app. For countries that require further legalisation, the MOFA-attested certificate must then be submitted to the destination country's embassy in the UAE.

What documents do I need to apply from outside the UAE?

You need: a copy of your passport (including pages showing past UAE visas), a copy of your last UAE residence visa, a recent passport-size photograph and a ten-print fingerprint card attested by the UAE Embassy in your country.

Can someone else apply for my police clearance certificate on my behalf?

Yes. You will need to provide a notarised power of attorney along with all required documents. The authorised person can then complete the application process on your behalf.
