Who Needs a Sharjah Police Clearance Certificate?

Sharjah Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) may be required if you are —

1. A UAE resident applying for a job, renewing a visa, changing sponsors or applying for a long-term residence category.
2. A UAE citizen applying for overseas study, immigration or professional licensing.
3. A GCC national or visitor who needs to prove a clean background for legal or government purposes.
4. A former resident who has left the UAE but needs a clearance certificate for immigration to countries like Canada, Australia, the UK or the USA.
5. Anyone applying for a business licence, marriage registration, property tenancy or professional body membership in the UAE.

How to Get a Police Clearance Certificate in Sharjah?

You can apply for Sharjah Police Clearance Certificate via MOI or Sharjah Police website. Given below are the steps —

Method 1: Via MOI UAE (For Sharjah Residents and Other Emirates)

Residents in Sharjah (and all emirates except Dubai) apply through the Ministry of Interior.

• Step1- Download the MOI UAE app (available on Apple, Android and Huawei) or visit moi.gov.ae.
• Step2- Log in with your UAE Pass account.
• Step3- Select 'Issuance of a Criminal Clearance Certificate' and tap 'Start Service.'
• Step4- Enter your details: full name, mobile number and email address.
• Step5- Choose the purpose: employment, immigration, education, licensing or other.
• Step6- Select where the certificate will be used — inside the UAE or outside the UAE.
• Step7- If outside the UAE, select the destination country and reason.
• Step8- Choose the certificate language: Arabic or English.
• Step9- Select delivery method: email or courier. Courier has additional charges.
• Step10- Pay the service fee by credit or debit card.

You will receive the certificate by email within 24 hours on working days. If you choose a courier, delivery takes up to five working days.

Method 2: Via Sharjah Police Website

You can also apply directly through the Sharjah Police official website.

• Step1- Collect your documents: valid passport and residency visa.
• Step2- Register on the Sharjah Police website and create an account.
• Step3- Fill in the application form accurately.
• Step4- Submit the required payment online.
• Step5- You may be asked to complete fingerprinting at a police station.
• Step6- Once processed, your PCC will be issued and sent to you.

Method 3: Applying from Outside the UAE (Former Residents)

If you no longer live in the UAE and your Emirates ID is cancelled, you cannot apply through the MOI app directly.

• Step1- Go to your local police station in your home country and get an official ten-print fingerprint card.
• Step2- Have the fingerprint card attested by the UAE Embassy or Consulate in your country.
• Step3- Submit the attested fingerprint card along with your application through the MOI portal or Dubai Police website (depending on which emirate you last lived in).
• Step4- Provide: copy of passport (including old UAE visa pages), copy of your last UAE residence visa and a passport-size photograph.
• Step5- Pay the fees and choose delivery by courier to your international address.

For Current UAE Residents:

1. Valid Emirates ID
2. Valid passport (copy)
3. Residency visa page
4. Recent passport-size photograph

Sharjah Police Clearance Certificate Attestation

If you need to submit your Sharjah PCC to a foreign government, embassy or overseas employer, the certificate must be attested. A plain digital PDF is generally not accepted internationally.

Step 1: MOFA Attestation

Submit the certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) for attestation. This can be done through the MOFA website (mofa.gov.ae), the MOFA app or at Customer Happiness Centres. Alternatively, you can request MOFA attestation directly within the MOI portal when applying for the certificate. Fee: AED 150 to AED 300 depending on the method.

Step 2: Embassy Attestation (for certain countries)
