- Enter Your Details on the RTA Website -
- Visit the official website using this link – https://www.rta.ae/wps/portal/rta/ae/home/rta-services/service-details?serviceId=3704306 and click on the ‘Apply now’ tab.
- Enter your Emirates ID and the expiry date.
- Enter your mobile number and the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered number.
- On the next page, you can see your personal details. It includes your name, sponsor’s name, contact information, and your profession. Verify the details and tap on ‘Continue’.
- Enter Your Previous Licence Details -
- A question will be asked if you have a driving licence currently. Select your answer from ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
- Select the country that issued your driving licence and is not eligible for automatic licence conversion from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your licence details — licence issue, expiry date, and licence category.
- Mention whether you possess the licence and enter your nationality.
- Click on the ‘Next’ tab.
- Select your driving licence category as ‘Light Motor Vehicle’.

- Eye Test - You need to get your eyes tested at RTA-approved optical centres in Dubai.
- Knowledge Test - After completing the eye test, visit any of the registered driving institutes in Dubai and take a theory test. You will be tested on the meaning of the road signs, rules to follow while driving on highways or busy junctures, and parking. The test also covers scenarios related to road hazards.
- Road Test - Once you pass the theory test, you will need to take the road test. You can book this through RTA’s official website.
Once you pass the Dubai Golden Chance driving licence test, your licence will be issued and will be valid for 2 years. After the first renewal, your driving licence will be valid for 5 years.
