A smart gate is an advanced and contactless system at the Dubai International Airport (DXB) that allows for seamless and quick entry. This system ensures that passengers move through passport controls with minimal effort by eliminating the need for traditional passport stamping. 

How Do You Check Your Dubai Smart Gate Registration?

Before travelling, you can verify your registration for the Dubai Smart Gate through the ‘Inquiry for Smart Gate Registration’. This online service is available on GDRFA- Dubai (General Directorate of Foreign Affairs-Dubai).

Here are the steps for the same — 

1. Head to the official website of GDRFA Dubai — gdrfad.gov.ae
2. Find the service labelled ‘Smart Gate Registration’
3. Hit the ‘Start Service’ button 
4. Select an identification method — 

• File Number 
• Emirates Unified Number or Emirates ID number
• Passport Number 

1. Enter your Date of Birth and Gender
2. Complete your CAPTCHA verification and hit the ‘Submit’ button
3. If your record gets registered, the GDRFA will confirm with the message: ‘Record is registered. You can use Smart Gates.’

Who Can Use Smart Gate Dubai? 

As per the official guidelines, individuals belonging to the following categories can use Dubai Airport Smart Gate —

✔️UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens

✔️Pre-issued visa holders

✔️UAE Residents

✔️Visa-on-arrival and Schengen Union guests

✔️Individuals with a height of 1.2 m or above

How to Use the Dubai Airport Smart Gate? 

If you know you are registered, using the smart gates is easy and takes only a few minutes. Follow the instructions below —

• Step into the Smart Gate area — this is a distinct section at the Passport control
• Stand on the footprint
• Remove your face coverings (masks, glasses, and so on) for a transparent biometric verification
• Look at the green light above the camera to scan your biometrics
• Once approved, the gates will open — you will be cleared through passport control

📝Note: For UAE residents, some Dubai Smart Gates allow passage without an Emirates ID or passport — just look at the camera, and the system will automatically retrieve your details.
