How Does the UAE Driving License Renewal on Visit Visa Work?

You cannot renew your UAE driving license on a visit visa. You need to have a valid Emirates ID to have a license or renew it. Basically, you must be a resident of the UAE to get a license. So even if you’re a resident who leaves the UAE and returns on a visit visa, you cannot renew your UAE license. 

Note: Emiratis are required to renew their UAE driving licenses every 10 years. Expats need to renew their license every 5 years. You would need to pass a road test if your license has expired for more than 10 years.
