A Step Towards Support
In the face of adversity, humanity often shines its brightest.
Demonstrating a move filled with empathy and forethought, the Cancer Patients Care Association (Rahma), led by Professor Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, has partnered with the Social Solidarity Fund from the Ministry of Interior. This joint venture has led to the creation of ‘Fazaa’, a unique discount card specifically tailored to cancer patients in the UAE.
Representatives from the association have expressed to the media that cancer, once perceived as an unbeatable adversary, has now evolved into a disease that can be defeated. This hopeful shift is attributed to two key factors: the growing emphasis on early detection and the increasing accessibility to advanced medical treatments within the UAE.
The inception of the Fazaa card emphasises the crucial importance of community unity. This unity, involving individual citizens, institutional entities, and governmental bodies, brings forth indispensable aid that can alleviate the difficulties that patients often encounter in their journey to recovery.
Bringing People Together
Rahma, a key player in this initiative, voices its heartfelt gratitude towards the Social Solidarity Fund's management. Their dedicated efforts have cultivated a deeper sense of unity and social cooperation within the community. The Fazaa card has been welcomed with enthusiasm by cancer patients for it brings a promise of major positive changes to their lives.
Since its establishment in 2015, Rahma has demonstrated a commitment to helping cancer patients from all walks of life. Collaborations with public and private entities have been a crucial part of Rahma's journey, all in a bid to ensure the best possible care for cancer patients through ground-breaking initiatives.
Consider the example of Maryam, a 45-year-old UAE resident diagnosed with breast cancer. The cost of treatment was overwhelming for her family. However, with the launch of the Fazaa card, she was able to secure the necessary medicines and treatment at a discounted price. This, in turn, lifted a considerable financial burden off her family.
Meeting Basic Needs
A spokesperson from Rahma explained that the overarching goal of this discount card goes beyond just financial relief. It is about bringing a flicker of happiness and hope to cancer patients. The card aims to aid such patients in overcoming financial constraints and daily necessities, ranging from food and clothing to medical needs such as medicines and treatments.
The discount card transcends the boundaries of nationality or social groups. It is a beacon of relief available to all UAE residents, irrespective of their nationality or religion, battling any form of cancer. The Fazaa card aims to help patients cope with the high cost of living, especially for essential consumables and provides a means for them to avail reasonable discounts on local market purchases.
Take, for instance, Ahmed, a non-resident labourer in the UAE who was diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite his limited income, the Fazaa card helped him afford the necessary treatment and daily essentials, proving the initiative’s inclusivity and universal approach.
Your Journey to Fazaa
Cancer patients can apply for the Fazaa card through the official Rahma website. The process requires applicants to provide a medical report or an official letter from any hospital confirming their cancer diagnosis. Once the application is approved, Rahma takes the responsibility of providing the card free of charge.
Rahma's recent official statement reveals that in collaboration with the Fazaa administration, all cancer patients (both UAE citizens and residents) can acquire the Fazaa card by contacting the Rahma Association at 80090 or by sending an email to pr@rahma.
No One Fights Alone
The advent of the "Fazaa" discount card presents hope in the lives of cancer patients in the UAE. This thoughtful initiative not only encourages a sense of community solidarity but also provides a means of financial relief for patients and their families. Its inclusivity, reaching out to UAE residents of all nationalities and religions, is indeed commendable.
Through the efforts of Rahma and the Social Solidarity Fund, a clear message resonates: No one fights alone. This initiative truly embodies the spirit of humanity, reinforcing the power of compassion and mutual support during challenging times.
