MAWAQiF Abu Dhabi Resident Parking Permit

Resident parking spaces are also a part of the standard parking spaces. They are marked in black and turquoise stripes or with ‘Resident Permit Only’ MAWAQiF signage. These spaces are reserved for residents with parking permits. 

  • Abu Dhabi Parking Time – 9 pm to 8 am with no additional charges
  • The same spaces can be used by the public (non-permit holders) outside of these timings after paying Abu Dhabi parking fees 

VILLA RESIDENT PARKING

Another resident parking in Abu Dhabi is the Villa residents' parking space in villa areas. These spaces are marked by ‘VILLA RESIDENT PERMIT ONLY’ signage. Residents with a permit can park their vehicles in the allocated zones for all day without any extra fees or charges. 

Here are the major details related to these parking spaces —

  • Parking Timings in Abu Dhabi – 
    • Visitors can station their vehicles in these spaces once they get a Villa Visitors Parking Permit by parking before 2 am.
    • The villa resident will request a parking permit for a visitor by texting an SMS from their registered mobile number. The permit is valid for 6 hours once the request is submitted between 2 am and 8 am. 
  • Parking Fee in Abu Dhabi
    • UAE Nationals: Free
    • Non-UAE Nationals: AED 2 per hour
  • Maximum Number of Permits
    • UAE Nationals: 4 or as per the inspector’s report for apartment; as per the inspector’s report for villa
    • Non-UAE Nationals: 2 permits or according to the inspector’s report for additional permits requested

MAWAQiF Parking Impound Area

Here are the details of the main MAWAQiF parking impound area —

  • Karama Area - Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street - Eid Prayer Hall (Previously)
  • Working Hours - 24 hours 

ABU DHABI PARKING FEE FOR IMPOUND AREA

The fee is in accordance with Law No. 18 of 2009, the Regulation of Vehicles Parking Management in Abu Dhabi Emirate. In case of a violation, the following towing and impounding fees are charged —

  • For 1st Month – AED 100 per day from the date of vehicle impounding
  • Additional Months – AED 500 per month till the vehicle is freed or sold in an auction
  • Transport and Towing Fees – AED 500 

HOW TO FREE AN IMPOUNDED VEHICLE?

To free an impounded vehicle, you should visit one of the customer service centres in the impound area. Submit the following documents —

  • A copy of the Emirates ID
  • Impounded vehicle owner’s driving licence
  • Vehicle ownership card

If you don’t free your car within 6 months, it will be sold at an auction. The process for the same is managed by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT).
