The move follows the World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration of the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on May 17, 2026. As a precautionary measure, Indian authorities have tightened airport health surveillance to identify health risks before passengers enter the country.

What is Air Suvidha 2.0?

Air Suvidha 2.0 is a fully digital and contactless passenger health declaration portal launched by India's Ministry of Civil Aviation in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited.

Under the new travel rule, all international passengers flying to India must submit an online Self-Declaration Form (SDF) before their travel. They can complete the form within 24 hours before their departure or preferably during the web check-in.

What Information Do Passengers Need to Provide?

The online declaration asks passengers to provide:

• Their 21-day travel history
• Details of any possible exposure to Ebola-affected regions
• Information about symptoms, if any, such as fever or other illness-related signs

The submitted information is shared in real time with airport health authorities, immigration officials, and state health surveillance teams. This allows faster identification of passengers who may require additional screening.

What Happens After You Land?

Once the form has been submitted, travellers only need to present the downloaded Self-Declaration Form at the International Travel Health Desk or immigration counter upon arrival in India. This digital process eliminates the hassle of manual paperwork and speeds up airport clearance.
