- Get Free Breast Cancer Screening Anywhere in UAE
As the world observes International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, UAE too is leaving no stone unturned to create awareness about the disease. Shedding light on Breast Cancer this month, a UAE-centred civil society organisation - Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) has launched the ‘Pink October’ campaign.
Dive into The Details
This campaign will be led by FOCP’s breast cancer awareness and early diagnosis drive Pink Caravan and includes more than 90 events and activations across the UAE throughout October. The campaign began on October 07th, 2023.
Here’s the event schedule -
- On the 13th of October, the Mobile Clinic will find itself in Sharjah, nestled at the picturesque Majaz Waterfront, ready to offer its services from 4 pm to 10 pm.
- In the middle of the month, specifically on the 15th of October, the Mobile Clinic will be stationed at the Brands For Less Shopping Centre in Motor City Dubai, presenting an opportunity for free checkups from 10 am to 4 pm.
- Finally, on the 19th of October, the MiniVan Clinic will be at the Shangri La Hotel in Dubai, carving out a two-hour window for complimentary clinical exams and consultations, spanning from 4 pm to 6 pm.
- On October 27 and 28, the Mobile Clinic will be stationed at the Global Village, providing complimentary screenings for women from 5 pm to 10 pm. Additionally, the MiniVan Clinic will be on-site at the Global Village.
- On October 28, catch the MiniVan Clinic at the Al Habtoor Polo Club in Dubai from 2 pm to 6 pm.
- Don't miss out on October 29 when the Mobile Clinic returns to Kite Beach in Dubai, offering free screenings from 4 pm to 10 pm.
- Lastly, on October 30, the Mobile Clinic will be back in action at City Walk, Dubai, where they will provide free screenings from 4 pm to 10 pm.
Significance of Early Detection
Early detection of breast cancer yields a remarkable 93 percent or higher five-year survival rate, according to medical research cited by FOCP. With breast cancer being the most prevalent global disease, causing over 685,000 deaths in 2020, FOCP initiated a partnership appeal in July. They called upon private sector companies to bolster their Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives, aiming to expand their outreach.
This call has resulted in a collaboration between prominent public and private sector entities, uniting with FOCP to sponsor and amplify the impact of their activities. Additionally, FOCP encourages both individuals and organisations to participate in their 'Pink Shop' online, where the proceeds from all 'Pink October' campaign sales will directly support the treatment journeys of FOCP-assisted patients. These funds will contribute to raising awareness and the implementation of moral support programs tailored for cancer patients and their families.
