UAE’s MoHAP Launches ‘Mental Health 360’ to Promote Mental Well-Being

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has taken a nationwide health initiative — ‘Mental Health 360’. It is a significant step to integrate mental well-being into everyday healthcare across the UAE. This health campaign was launched on 13 January at a ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters in Dubai, in collaboration with global biopharmaceutical company AbbVie.

A Holistic Approach to Health

As per the ministry, ‘Mental Health 360’ is designed to consider mental health as an essential part of overall health. It complies with the UAE’s strategic focus on prevention, early intervention, and integrated care, reinforcing the idea that mental well-being is a shared community responsibility.

Supports the UAE’s National Mental Health Policy

The initiative also strongly supports the UAE’s National Policy for the Promotion of Mental Health, which focuses on awareness, prevention, and the removal of stigma linked to mental health challenges in our society. This campaign aims to strengthen a supportive healthcare environment by promoting open conversations and public understanding of mental health.

Integrated Care Model

Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector at MoHAP, highlighted that mental health is a core pillar of the national health strategy. It cannot be separated from physical health. Besides, he emphasised how there's a need for an integrated model that incorporates psychological support at every stage of healthcare and preventive care.

Strengthening Awareness and Partnerships

Dr. Buthaina Bin Belaila, Head of the Non-Communicable Disease and Mental Health Department at MoHAP, stated that adopting a holistic approach to mental health has become a necessity. This is especially true for those going through chronic illnesses. One of the primary focuses of the initiative is to improve communication between patients and healthcare providers to enhance care outcomes and overall quality of life.

Supporting the Year of the Family

The launch of ‘Mental Health 360’ is a special highlight on the UAE’s Year of the Family, defining the role of family and community in promoting psychological well-being and making individuals feel supported throughout their health journeys.
