Clutch, Gear, and Accelerator have so far been the ideal trio for driving a car. However, the new generation of carmakers has transformed the car industry by introducing automatic cars. Automatic cars have an automatic transmission so that the driver does not need to shift gear manually every time there is a change in speed. The automatic transmission consists of sensors that sense the change in speed and shifts the gears automatically.

How to drive an automatic car in Dubai?

Driving an automatic car is not too different from a manual transmission car. The only difference between the two cars is the gear. While in the manual transmission, you need to change gears every now and then; in automatic cars, the gears adjust automatically. There are a few things that you should know while adjusting your gear in an automatic car:

  • The gearbox in an automatic car consists of four options: P, R, N and D.
  • When you start your car and are going in the forward direction, you should put your car on gear ‘D’.
  • If you require travelling in the reverse direction, put the gear on ‘R’.
  • In case you do not need to control the speed of your car and you are not driving regularly, put your car on ‘N’, i.e. Neutral.
  • While putting your car on parking, make sure you set it on ‘P’ gear to ensure that it remains still.

For a smooth and stress-free experience, you need to follow safety precautions while driving your car such as:

  • Wear Seatbelts
  • Keep your license, car registration and car insurance in car
  • Children up to four years of age must be provided with a child safety seat
  • The front seat passenger should be at least 145 cm tall and should not be younger than 10 years
  • Follow traffic signals
  • Do not use your phone while driving
  • Do not drive under the influence of any intoxicant
  • Follow the speed rules
  • Follow the driver’s behaviour rules

Before driving your automatic car in Dubai for the first time:

  • Check your seatbelt
  • Check your engine light
  • Check your side mirror
  • Check your tail light
  • Most importantly, check your license, car registration and car insurance

Under such unpleasant situations, car insurance safeguards your financial interests by covering any damages or injuries caused to the third party.

Additionally, you can opt for a comprehensive car insurance in Dubai that provides coverage against damage to your car, theft, bodily injuries and natural disasters. Choosing the right car insurance is as important as choosing the right car. However, finding the car insurance that suits your needs perfectly can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
