Covid-19 has had us homebound for several months now. However, with the increasing rate of vaccination all over the world, popular travel destinations are opening their doors once again. They are now allowing fully vaccinated tourists to come and visit the place once again. Many of these countries are even offering vaccination camps to unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers. If you are planning a getaway with your friends or family, you will need a rundown of the countries allowing vaccinated travelers from the UAE. Let’s find out which countries are open for travel from the UAE.

Major Countries Allowing Vaccinated Travellers

Many major tourist destinations loved by UAE residents such as Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Georgia, Germany Montenegro, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, and Turkey have already opened their borders for tourists. In addition to these, other countries open to vaccinated travelers from the UAE are as follows:


A cultural hub of insta-worthy views and vistas, Austria has opened its gate to the fully-vaccinated UAE travelers from July 1st. The quarantine protocols have also been lifted completely, as per the information available at the moment. You will need a valid certificate of vaccination, certificate of recovery (if contacted Covid-19 virus recently), or a negative PCR test report. Both the certificates and PCR reports should either be in English or German. The Austrian government is accepting six different vaccinations as of now – AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Moderna, and Sinovac. Austria has not set any rules regarding compulsory Covid-19 travel insurance for Dubai travelers as of now.


Barbados is another one of the countries open to vaccinated travelers from the Emirates. AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, and Moderna are accepted by the Barbados government in the case of tourists coming from the UAE. Special quarantine terms have been disabled as of now however, you will have to present a negative PCR test report. One test report is to be presented while boarding the flight which should be no older than 3 days. You will have to take another PCR test upon arrival. Quarantine rules are to be followed until the test result arrives which can take up to 3 days. After that, you can enjoy your vacation freely.

Barbados is also welcoming unvaccinated travelers from the UAE but they have to produce a negative PCR test before boarding the flight. There is a mandatory quarantine of 5 days before you need to take a test again.


The capital of Egypt, Cairo is also open to vaccinated travelers from the UAE. The city has recently started accepting tourists from the Emirates once again. Tourists aged 6 and above are required to carry a negative PCR test taken within 73 hours of boarding the flight. You will have to resent a test and fill out a health status declaration form when traveling anywhere in Egypt. The health declaration form is provided by the airline you are to travel with.


France is now one of the countries allowing vaccinated travelers for tourism purposes. The requirement set by the government states that you can enter the country after 2 weeks of your final dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Moderna are accepted in France for all tourists. All fully vaccinated tourists aged 11 and above must carry a negative PCR test when boarding the flight. The PCR test must not be any older than 72 hours. France is also accepting negative Rapid antigen Covid-19 tests. However rapid tests must not be any older than 48 hours. France is accepting unvaccinated tourists, provided the aforementioned regiment of Covid-19 tests are taken care of. Unvaccinated tourists are also required to take a PCR test upon arrival and self-isolate for one week.


Greece opened its tourism for vaccinated UAE travelers on May 14th. Vaccination accepted in Greece includes Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Cansino Biologics, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Novavax, Sinovac Biotech, and Sinopharm. Tourists who are not vaccinated must provide a negative PCR test upon arrival. The test should not be more than 72 hours old. the vaccinated people who have contacted COVID-19 in the last 2 to 9 months are required to present the positive test result certificate.


One of the world’s greatest tourist destinations, Iceland, has entered the list of countries allowing vaccinated travelers from the UAE. Iceland is accepting Pfizer/BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and Moderna. You will need a negative PCR test only if you have been infected by Covid-19 before. This test should not be older than 14 days. Vaccinated tourists who have not been infected by Covid-19 yet are not required to provide any PCR test report or quarantine upon arrival. All tourists are required to take a fresh test on arrival in the country and wait in isolation for the results to arrive. The results may take 6 hours after that you are free to travel about.  


The Maldives has been open to tourists since last year and is one of the few countries allowing vaccinated travelers as well as the unvaccinated ones. If you are visiting one of the islands where more than 60% of the population is vaccinated, you are not required to be vaccinated compulsorily. But if you are visiting one of the islands where lesser than 60% of the population has been vaccinated, it’s important that you have had your final dose of any WHO-approved vaccines 2 weeks before the take-off. All vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers must bring a negative PCR report. Kids aged one and younger are an exception to this rule.


Traveling to Mexico has been reinstated since July 2nd, 2021. If you are traveling to Mexico, you do not need a PCR test. Just bring your vaccination certificate along and complete a traveler information form upon your arrival. Vaccinated tourists are not required to quarantine or self-isolate either.


Fully-vaccinated UAE travelers can enter Spain starting July 7 and enjoy their vacation with zero trouble. You must have completed your vaccination 14 days before the take-off. Everyone over 6 years of age is required to present a negative PCR test taken no more than 48 hours ago. Spain is accepting Pfizer/BioNTech, Oxford/AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm vaccines. Carry a physical copy of your vaccination certificate.


Thailand is one of the countries allowing vaccinated travelers from the UAE starting July 1st this year. If you are fully vaccinated, you can plan your Thailand trip without the restrictions of a quarantine. Everyone except for children under 6 years of age must have a negative PCR test report with them. Tourists do not have to quarantine but they may be asked to stay in Phuket before traveling to other places. Travel insurance in Dubai of a minimum of USD 100,000 is also mandatory for all tourists. Your travel insurance in Dubai must have a Covid-19 cover.


Any vaccinated traveler from the UAE can enter the USA apart from people who have been to any high-risk or red zoned countries in the last 14 days. Mandatory quarantine rules have been lifted now but you need to present a negative PCR test and fill a declaration form while boarding. There is also a provision for unvaccinated travelers to enter the States. However, you will be required to take PCR tests on days 3 and 5 after your arrival.


Being cooped in your homes for months can be exhausting. Travel restrictions and ban lifting slowly is rather relaxing news for all travel enthusiasts. However, you must remember that the threat of Covid-19 still exists. Hence, proper precautions must be taken at all times. Do not leave for your trips with proper travel insurance in Dubai.
