Ajman Issues Health Alert Post-rain, Urges Residents to Stay Cautious

After the recent rainfall across the UAE, the concerned authorities in Ajman have issued a public health advisory. They have warned residents of the diseases likely to develop due to water accumulation and water-borne insects. This initiative comes as parts of the city continue to deal with puddles and damp conditions left behind by the rainfall.

Stagnant Water Has Hidden Dangers

Officials have specifically cautioned residents to avoid contact with stagnant water, which may contain harmful bacteria and contaminants. Those contributing to cleaning flooded areas have been advised to take extra care. High exposure to polluted water or spoiled food may result in developing infections.

Additionally, authorities highlighted that damp environments are more likely to support fungal growth and attract insects. This makes it essential to dry out waterlogged spaces as quickly as possible.

Spike in Mosquito Activity Raises Concerns

One of the key concerns flagged by officials is the rise in mosquito breeding after rainfall. Standing water creates ideal conditions for mosquito breeding, eventually increasing the risk of insect-borne illnesses.

To minimise exposure, residents are being urged to apply insect repellent, wear full-length clothing, and avoid stepping out during peak mosquito activity.

• Using insect control solutions where necessary
• Maintaining overall cleanliness in outdoor areas

As per medical experts, it’s strongly recommended to seek immediate medical consultation if any of the symptoms are observed —

• Skin irritation
• Fever
• Joint pain

Early diagnosis and treatment can help treat mosquito-borne infections and stagnant-water-related infections at an early stage.
