Dubai Islamic Bank Credit Card Payment through UAEFTS

UAEFTS is an RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) platform operated and managed by the Central Bank of the UAE. The platform facilitates the transfer of funds and bill payments from one bank to another. Based on the norms in the UAE, most banks and financial institutions accept payments through UAEFTS. In case the cardholders are unable to visit the branch to pay their credit card bills, they can visit the nearest exchange house and make easy payments in just a few minutes.

Most banks in the UAE allow their cardholders to make credit card payments using UAEFTS. However, before choosing this as a payment method, the cardholders should check with their bank whether they accept the payments via UAEFTS or not.

If yes, the cardholders need to make a request to pay their credit card bills via RTGS. Mostly these requests get processed in real time and as soon as they are processed, both the payee and payer get notified. In case of any delays, the cardholders can check the status of their request during business hours.

Advantages of Using UAEFTS for Dubai Islamic Bank Credit Card Bill Payment

Here are a few advantages of using UAEFTS as your credit card payment mode.

  • Easy Payments: With UAEFTS, the cardholders get an option to make credit card bill payments without visiting the bank’s branch.
  • Globally Available: UAEFTS allows cardholders to make credit card bill payments via exchange house from any location across the globe.
  • Available in Multiple Currencies: UAEFTS enables cardholders to make credit card bill payments in their preferred currency, transgressing the national barriers.
  • Flexibility: Most banks in the UAE accept UAEFTS payments. This helps cardholders make credit card bill payments from another bank account without any hassle.
  • Real-Time Notifications: The cardholders and credit card owners get real-time notifications for the bill payments processed via UAEFTS. This helps cardholders to keep track of their credit card transactions and payments.

Disadvantages of Using UAEFTS for Dubai Islamic Bank Credit Card Bill Payment

With all the advantages, making credit card payments through UAEFTS comes with a few disadvantages as well.

  • Extra Charges: The cardholder needs to pay extra charges for making credit card bill payments using UAEFTS. The exchange house charges this additional fee for accepting the payments on behalf of the concerned bank. Thus, cardholders end up paying more than their credit card bill amount.
  • Extra Charges for Multiple Payments: If the cardholders make a partial payment and want to pay the remaining amount later, they need to pay an additional fee with every part of the credit card bill payment.
  • Processing Time: The credit card bill payments get processed in real-time with RTGS. However, it takes up to two business days for the payments to reflect in the system.
  • Allocated Exchange Houses: Not all exchange houses accept credit card bill payments for all banks in the UAE. To locate an exchange house that accepts a credit card payment for the concerned bank can be a tedious task for the cardholder.

Here is a list of phone wallets available in the UAE.

  • Google Pay
  • Apple Pay
  • E-Wallet

This is a next-generation payment platform that processes successful cross-banking payments. The cardholders can use their preferred phone wallet through their desktop, laptop or smartphone to make easy credit card bill payments.

Making Dubai Islamic Bank Credit Card Bill Payment from Other Bank’s Credit Card

Dubai Islamic Bank does not allow cardholders to make direct credit card bill payments using other bank’s credit cards. However, there are some indirect options that they can opt for, like balance transfer, cash loan, and others.

  • Cash Loan: If the cardholder’s other bank credit card comes with a facility of borrowing cash against the available credit limit, they can do the same and make Dubai Islamic Bank credit card payment using that cash.

First, they need to contact their bank and check the process of activating this facility if available. Usually, the cardholder visits the chosen bank’s ATM and use their credit card to withdraw the borrowed cash based on the available credit limit for that specific credit card. They can then deposit the borrowed cash in the DIB cash deposit machine to make the credit card payment.

  • Balance Transfer: Most banks in the UAE offer a balance transfer facility on their credit cards. With this service, the cardholders can consolidate and transfer their credit card outstanding balance to another bank’s credit card and then convert the same in monthly installments to make easy repayments.

The cardholders can contact the bank with whom they have another credit card and transfer their DIB credit card outstanding amount to that bank’s credit card using the balance transfer service. All they need to do is provide their DIB credit card details and the outstanding balance amount they need to transfer.

Once done, the cardholders can then schedule easy repayments based on their financial preferences. Please note that the banks in the UAE charge additional interest for using the balance transfer facility.

It is not advisable to use this method in most cases as it doesn’t clear out your debts and instead adds interest to them. It just helps with shifting your debt from one credit card to another and buying you some time to repay your debt. And if you don’t make these payments on time, your credit score can get impacted.
